Luxury 3 bedroom vacation rental house in San Miguel de Allende Mexico

To the right of the entry foyer is a bedroom that has a queen bed with a tall ornate headboard, an impressive armoire, a desk and chair. A wood-burning fireplace is in the corner of the room. Beautiful large blue and white pottery sits on the armoire. A ceiling fan hums quietly. The tall window looks onto the quaint street. This is a very romantic room. The en suite tiled bathroom has a large shower. The window looks onto the flower-filled interior courtyard.

If you continue up another stairway, past the open courtyard, you'll come to the second bedroom. It has two double beds with beautiful patchwork quilts, an armoire that holds a TV, a corner wood-burning fireplace, polished brick floors and yellow walls. The en suite bathroom has white bird tiles, a shower.

Back down the stairs and to the front hallway, the scent of flowers and sounds of a fountain beckon you straight ahead and up four steps to the house's charming central courtyard. Brilliant flowers cascade from every level.

From the courtyard, French doors open into the relaxed living room that has two large flower-printed sofas facing a fireplace that has a cantera stone surround. There is a beautiful carved armoire, an antique chest of drawers, shelves holding local Mexican art and family mementos.

The modern Mexican-tiled kitchen is up a short flight of tile stair from the living room. It has a 6-burner stove, a refrigerator, a dishwasher, microwave, excellent dishes and serving pieces. Two whimsical, locally-made papier maché roosters will keep you company while you cook.

A large center island joins the the kitchen with the dining room, where a round, glass-topped table seats 6 comfortably. The ceiling has a sky and cloud mural.

Next to the kitchen, a guest powder room has a rather special mural with a wispy country scene that is almost mystical. Beyond the dining room and a few more steps up, a very attractive den/TV room has a rust sofa, two armless easy chairs upholstered in rust, melon and blue plaid, a large armoire with a tin front that holds the TV, DVD and music and a very impressive gas fireplace with a cantera stone surround.

Just outside the sitting room, there's narrow breakfast terrace that has a dining table to seat 4. Adjacent to this is a second terrace at the front of the house that has a table that seats 4, two chaises and incredible views of the Parroquia and the town.

The master bedroom is above the breakfast terrace and the central courtyard. It has a king-size iron 4-poster bed placed in the middle of the room so you can see the fab views from bed. A sitting area has two comfortable easy chairs, a gas fireplace, a beautiful old Mexican armoire and bookshelves. Wall to wall closets provide optimum storage.

The very large, tiled en suite bathroom has an American tub, a separate shower and double sinks.

Up a few more tiled stairs is the icing on the cake: the roof terrace. A round table seats 8. A built-in gas barbecue is along one wall. The large adjacent laundry room has a washer and dryer, a full-sized refrigerator, a sink, a complete set of dishes, crockery, flatware and glassware.

The views are maybe the best in San Miguel: the red roofs of the town, the mountains that encircle San Miguel and the wide crayon-blue sky. The last time we were at this house, we saw a family of egrets in a nearby tree. Two comfortable chaises virtually insure that the biggest decision of your vacation will be how to leave this spot.

Children are warmly welcomed here. A dog may be allowed with prior permission and a large security deposit. This is a strict non-smoking house.

The house has a full staff: a maid, a gardener and a great cook who speaks English. There is a purified water system, cable TV, high-speed wireless Internet and a Vonage phone that allows unlimited calls to the US.
